It’s the last day of May and it bothers me that I didn’t publish a single post in April. So I definitely couldn’t let another whole month go without a post.
The problem is, I haven’t touched a rod since before ice-out, which was super early this year. The last time I touched a rod was in February!
I’m not going to go into the blah-blah-blah about the reasons behind my lack of wet lines. Suffice it to say I hope it changes soon.
I hope you’ve been able to chase some prey. Let me live vicariously through you. What’s biting? And what are they biting on?
I’m in the same boat. (Pun fully intended 😉 Busy, busy, year for me. However, I was able to get out for an hour on the bass opener. I actually had more time, but the lightning decided I shouldn’t use it. Caught a few dinks, but that it. Better than not getting out for an hour though.
I’ve had pretty much the same problem. With the exception of one ice outing at the end of February, my drought has gone on since November. I’ve been off this week though, that’s a tradition of mine.
I’ve been using swim jigs and beetle spins and have done so-so. I’ve tried worms and have had a few hits but wasn’t able to close the deal. But, as always, weeds have been the key.
I nabbed a bunch of Yum Money Hounds when Outlet Bait & Tackle recently had them selling for .99 a pack. They look like great shore fishing baits because they are so weedless. I’m hoping to be able to stop at a few places over my lunch breaks this summer. Dang schedule is so tight. School is almost over, but then I start a Practicum in the fall.
