Weather Conditions: calm and clear

We arrived at my in-law’s cabin at about 7pm Friday night. It was getting dark quickly, so I got my car unloaded and my father-in-law, Ken, and I headed out for as much time as we could. Since it was getting dark relatively soon, we decided to stay close and not go too far out.

We tried a couple of shores off islands near the cabin, but weren’t having much success, so I suggested we try a channel between two islands nearby. It gets too shallow for even canoes in that channel, so the North side kind of forms a little bay. Within ten minutes, I hooked two smallmouth bass, one on each side of the channel. One was a nice 14-incher, the other a 13-incher.

We kept them, but found out later that bass season didn’t start til midnight, so being the good fishermen we were, we let them go the next morning. After a few pictures, of course.
