After an amazing Saturday (morning, afternoon, and evening), I was looking forward to an hour or two Sunday before we had to leave. But alas, it was not meant to be.
I woke up a little after 8:00 and my brother was already on the lake in the canoe. My brother came back when he saw me and asked if I wanted to go out for a while. I had a couple of things to do, but my son wanted to go. The two of them were out for about a half hour and when they came back, my brother calmly said he wanted a picture of the fish he caught. Well, it was this one:

We measured it at 17″, probably about 3 lbs. He let it go after the pic, so we should be able to catch it again some day. He spent about 2 1/2 hours on the water and caught about 6 fish that morning. I ended up giving my relatives a tour of the lake and preparing to leave, so I only got to throw casts here and there that maybe added up to 30 mins. When you fish so sporadically, it’s really hard to cover area effectively, so I wasn’t able to catch anything. While it would have been nice to do some more fishing that morning, I was satisfied with the weekend.
Before he came home, my brother said he couldn’t wait to outfish me. Quantity-wise, we were pretty equal. But his two keepers were both about an inch bigger than my two. So he did it. But barely. I’ll be visiting him in Colorado in September. I look forward to seeing who outfishes who then.
Congratulations

Good to see somebody was on top of some quality fish. I might give it a go in the morning. You’ve tempted me a bit too much.
Looking forward to a report, bassdem.
