Muskie lures are among the most expensive lures around, but this one is hook, line, and sinker craziness. Assuming a muskie would go after this thing. The size of it would suggest a killer whale might be a more likely target. Maybe one of my saltwater fishermen readers can tell me what else would attack this squiddy looking lure.
I have a hard time buying $15 lures because of fear of snagging them on something on the bottom that won’t let go. Can you imagine losing this one? How many would you have laying around as a backup?
The story about this lure states:
It’s made of three pounds of gold and platinum, and encrusted with 100 carats of diamonds and rubies—4753 stones in all.
It was sold by MacDaddy’s Fishing Lures for $1 million. I looked them up and they are out of business. I guess there’s not much demand for something like this in this day and age.
Thanks to my brother for sending me the link on Gizmodo: Million Dollar Fishing Lure
Ha! That’s not a lure for fish. It’s a lure for idiots.
