I’ve lived in Minnesota all my life (except for a college at Purdue), but this is the first year I’ve been on frozen lakes with any kind of regularity. This year, while I’ve been a passenger in vehicles on the ice, I’ve never actually driven on the ice myself. Until yesterday. Driving on the ice is really no big deal in Minnesota, especially this time of year when the ice is 2 feet thick or more. General guidelines specify that the ice need only be 8-12 inches thick to... Happy Holidays
The best part of this time of year is spending time with family and seeing the spirit of the season through children’s eyes. With all the commercialism around us, don’t lose sight of the important things in life. I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, or happy whatever holiday it is you celebrate. See you on the ice. The Father, The Daughter,

Put pudgy pie iron into fire until bread is toasted on both sides. Pudgy Pie Iron A “classic”... (more...)
Wild Game Feast
While this isn’t related to fishing, walleye was a VERY integral part of the festivities, so I thought you might like to see… Our neighborhood held our first ever wild game feast. Everybody brought wild game to share and we had plenty of food, so it was definitely a feast. Hopefully, this will become an annual event. Boiling oil Buffalo Breaded pheasant Beer battered pheasant Moose meatballs Venison Italian and Polish sausage Hossenfeffer in red wine and onion sauce over rice Wild... (more...)
