Memorial Weekend 2010, Day 2

Posted by MNAngler On May - 30 - 2010

As planned, we left Hayward after lunch, so I only got to fish for a little bit this morning. I was on the dock by 6:30 and went in at 8:00 for breakfast.

I threw an orange/brown spinnerbait, chartreuse spinnerbait, green/black beetle spinner (which was too light to cast), scum frog, bubble gum fluke, blue booyah jig and pig, large green mimic minnow swimbait (the head was too big and kept bringing in weeds), white pearl fluke, and white spinnerbait. Nothing induced a strike despite the fact that there were two big swirls on the surface while I was out there. One looked like it had a big back, so I surmised it was a muskie.

After breakfast, my son wanted to practice casting again, so I threw a yellow spinnerbait while he practiced. Still no bites.

So today wasn’t a productive one, but when I got home this afternoon, there was a bunny hopping around in our backyard. My pursuit of that prey was more successful and now we have another rabbit in our freezer to try out a new rabbit recipe.

Hopefully I’ll get a chance to hit a local lake tomorrow for a little while.
