Ken and I spent the good part of the day installing his new fish finder on his pontoon. Once it was installed and the pontoon was on the water, of course we had to try it out.

We went out to Walleye Alley because we were planning to fish there after dinner. We had about an hour, so we put my kids into life jackets and puttered out there.

If you’re an avid fisherman and are out on a boat, you can’t not throw out a line. So as we were going up and down the shore, I threw out a yellow Daredevil with red spots. When we got to the West end of Walleye Alley where there’s a little bay, I tried casting with a bubble gum fluke. Neither got any hits. It didn’t bode well for the night’s fishing.

On the way out and on the way back, however, we did see some fish that we didn’t expect. It made us reconsider trolling back and forth rather than just motoring out to Walleye Alley at full speed.
