My brother-in-law, George, has done some fishing with friends, but not a lot. He hasn’t fished much with Ken and I, but was intent on doing a good amount of fishing while he was up with us at Ken’s cabin.

tn_DSC00151He came out with Ken and I where we fished the South side of Young’s Island. George got hit first on a beetle spinner with fluorescent green body. It turned out to be a nice 14″ smallie. A few minutes later, a nice 12″ smallie hit my white pearl super fluke. Both fish were on the Western end of the island.

We the rest of the shore was quiet and when we turned the corner to fish the North side, I cast the front edge of a shallow bay where the retrieve felt a little funny. I tried to set the hook and felt the tug of the fish, but it let go and I missed it.

We finished the shore and went home satisfied with the night’s catch.
